Just over a year ago AlphaHelix started a business area focused on biobanks. The reason was that the subsidiary Techtum had gained a good position on the market for biobanks; but that business is significantly different from the focus areas of the corporate group. The deals are larger, with longer business cycles and the margin is lower.
On June 8, Biobank Nord announced the choice of Techtum as their main supplier. Today it was confirmed that no appeals have been received.
The maximum value of the tender is 13 MSEK and Techtum estimates that 3.4 to 12.2 million SEK goes to the company; where the lower amount refers to the absolute minimum. It involves equipment for about 1 MSEK initially; the remaining part is consumables. Techtum's part is over 90% of the total procurement.
The contract shall run for two years with an option to extend for another two years.
The margins are generally lower than for the Group's other business areas.
"It is very pleasing that we now can publish a major contract for the business area Techtum Biobanking. So far we have had an increasing order volume from biobanks but the customers have delayed their public tenders. We knew we were competitive; which this shows; and that our long investment in biobanking was right. " Techtum CEO Håkan Evefors says in a statement.
